Basic Cash Code Pos Register Software Visual Foxpro Odbc

Thanks in advance for any advice or leads you might have. My project is re-writing a FoxPro 2.6 (Windows) application in VFP 8. This is for a state govt agency that does boat registrations. One of the features I would like to include in the rewrite is POS. By that I mean a cash drawer attached to the PC and the ability to capture transaction data and journal all transactions to disk. Does anyone have experience with a off-the-shelf cash register program that would interface with VFP, or the least capture data to a text file? Purchasing something and hooking into it would save my limited time.
